ASIA/SOUTH KOREA - Eucharistic Adoration for the unity of the Church and the unification of Korea

Tuesday, 8 February 2022 prayer   eucharist

Seoul (Agenzia Fides) - The unity of the Church, the spiritual well-being of the faithful in the difficult time of the pandemic, the reconciliation and unification of the Korean peninsula have one source: Eucharistic Adoration. With this conviction Msgr. Peter Chung Soon-Taick, OCD, Archbishop of Seoul, invited the faithful to join in the Eucharistic Adoration and silent prayer before Christ the Eucharist, who is the source of peace, of light, of interior strength for daily life. The Archbishop underlined how it is all the more important and necessary to stop in front of Jesus-Eucharist while the Church, and the entire civil community, live a time of struggle and fear in the era marked by Covid-19.
As reported to Fides by the Communications Office of the Archdiocese, in a first special moment of Adoration, held on February 3, 2022 in the Cathedral of Myeongdong - in strict compliance with the guidelines of the anti Covid government - Archbishop Chung reminded the faithful that, in his pastoral service, he will make every effort to provide for the support of all the faithful, on a spiritual and material level. With this in mind, the Archbishop remarked, the Church intends to offer the baptized the opportunity to take time to examine their own experiences of "life in the Spirit" by joining in the solemn Eucharistic Adoration each week.
This journey - he added - will give everyone the opportunity to deepen their relationship with God, meeting him in the prayer of adoration and in full contemplation of faith. Contemplative prayer, the Church of Seoul emphasizes, is also a special invocation addressed to God to accompany the path of peace, reconciliation and reunification of the Korean peninsula, still wounded by the division of the same people. Msgr. Peter Chung, who is Archbishop of Seoul and Apostolic Administrator of Pyongyang, now the capital of North Korea, entrusted the future of Korea to the Lord, inviting the faithful to ask God for grace and good for the nation.
