Lima (Agenzia Fides) - The Episcopal Commission for Catechesis and Biblical Pastoral Care of the Peruvian Bishops' Conference is organizing the "Training Week for Catechists 2022" from February 7th to 11th. This new edition, given the pandemic, will take place in digital format under the motto "Walking towards the lay ministry of the Catechist". The catechesis week sees itself as a space for further training for catechists and pastoral workers, community leaders, leaders of biblical and liturgical initiatives, members of apostolic movements and brotherhoods, and wants to offer food for thought on the lay ministry of the catechist, so that the lay ministry in the Church can be consciously adopted in Peru. This year the event will see the participation of international speakers.
According to the program, the week begins on Monday, February 7, with an introduction, prayer and "Forum: Church Today." This is followed by group work. The same pattern will be repeated in the following days, with contributions on "lay ministries and the lay ministry of the catechist"; "Identity and vocation of the catechist"; "Being a Catechist in the Fraternity"; "The ministry of the catechist: a missionary disciple for a church on the move".
The Week will conclude with a celebration of the Word and sending, on Friday, February 11. (SL) (Agenzia Fides, 19/1/2022)
