AFRICA/D.R. CONGO - Appointment of the National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies, Fr Celestin Muhindo

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On October 7, 2021 Cardinal Luis Antonio G. Tagle, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, appointed Fr Celestin Muhindo, from the diocese of Goma as National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) in the Democratic Republic of Congo for a five-year period (2021-2026).
The new National Director was born on July 14, 1978 in Goma and was ordained a priest in Goma on July 27, 2008. After high school, in 1999 he attended the preparatory Seminary in Goma, then he studied philosophy in Buhimba and theology in Murhesa, Nyakibanda and Buhimba. In 2019 he earned a Masters in Dogmatic Theology from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) in Nairobi. After his priestly ordination he has carried out his pastoral ministry in different parishes, as assistant parish priest and parish priest, and as chaplain of ecclesial movements. Since 2019 he has been Diocesan Director of the PMS and since 2020 Secretary-Chancellor of the Diocese of Goma. (SL) (Agenzia Fides, 16/12/2021)
