AFRICA/SOUTH SUDAN - Ezo county towards an inclusive, accessible and sustainable post-pandemic world

Yambio (Agenzia Fides) - "Leadership and participation of persons with disabilities toward an inclusive, accessible and sustainable post-COVID-19 world" was the theme of the meeting organized in Ezo county, one of the ten in the Western Equatorial state, on the occasion of the International Day for Persons with Disabilities.
The event was coordinated by the Star Trust in collaboration with various humanitarian agencies in the county. Among the key projects that are being implemented in Ezo, in particular the one concerning the agricultural market, Smallholder Agriculture Market Support (SAMS) financed by the World Food Program (WFP), The Youth Economic Empowerment Project (YEEP) financed by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the Local Response Pool Fund (LRPF) Rapid Emergency Response Project (RER) which supports 120 people living with disabilities in the Ezo Payam center.
Anigunde Cecilia, Western Equatoria State Minister for Gender, Child and Social Welfare, speaking with the authorities of the local Church, the government and other humanitarian agencies, applauded all the organizations operating in Ezo County for their support for the vulnerable people and urged parents to take care of their children and send them to school. Anigunde also urged community members to continue supporting internally displaced people who have come to seek refuge and peace in the county and especially people living with disabilities.
The ministry donated items to people living with disabilities and assured them that other partners will be involved to provide them with further assistance. (AP) (Agenzia Fides, 15/12/2021)
