ASIA/HONG KONG - “A thrilling dream forty years old”: Study Seminar on the impact of the Second Vatican Council on the life of the Church to help young Catholics deepen their faith

Hong Kong (Fides Service) - “A thrilling dream forty years old - the transformation of the Church brought by Vatican II” was the theme of a study seminar organised by the Catholic Students Association of the Catholic University of China in collaboration with the Centre of Studies on Catholicism. According to Hong Kong diocesan bulletin Kong Ko Bao the purpose of the March 21 seminar was to promote knowledge of the importance of Vatican II and the impact of its fruits on the life of the Church also in view of helping young Chinese Catholics grow in the faith. About forty students listened to a talk by Rev Louis Ha, head of the diocesan archives who said among other things: “looking at the history of the Church helps young Catholics of today understand how the present situation came to be”. In an interview with Kong Ko Bao 24 March, Rev. Ha said “the Council urged the Church to be concerned with society not only its internal questions”. (Agenzia Fides 03/04/2006 Righe: 13 Parole: 177)
