Piero Gheddo - "MARCELLO ZAGO - UNA VITA PER LA MISSIONE” - Editrice Missionari OMI

Friday, 31 March 2006

Rome (Fides Service) - Missionary in Laos, an expert on Buddhism, convinced promoter of dialogue among religions Fr. Marcello Zago lived his vocation as an Oblate Missionary of Mary Immaculate with passion and dedication. Teaching at university and service to the Church as part of the general direction of OMI, at the Secretariat for Dialogue with Non Christians, at the Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples led him to travel the world and made him a authentic agent of communion. A man of culture and profound friendship, simple and always close to the ordinary people, he left everyone with the memory of a priest and then a bishop humble, affable and smiling. The Oblates write in the introduction: “We thank Fr Piero Gheddo for accepting to write this biography of Marcello Zago of whom he was a friend and collaborator for many years. Rather then a systematic and complete biography we asked him to write a brief profile to commemorate his recent death. The result is a work written with the heart, easy to read, which offers everyone an insight into the person of Archbishop Zago, sufficient to recognise his magnanimity and outstanding dedication to the Church and his Congregation”.
