Rome (Fides Service) - Leaders of Catholic Charismatic Renewal from all five of the world's continents will meet in Castel Gandolfo (Rome) at the Maripoli Centre for a Consultation on the present situation and to identify future challenges facing this Church Movement. Started in the United States in the university world in 1967, the Movement spread rapidly fostering new awareness of faith and of the presence and working of the Holy Spirit in the lives of Christians. It was officially recognised by the Pontifical Council for the Laity and today has about 120 million members all over the world.
“Twelve Days of Blessings” is the theme for the event which will have three stages from 18 to 30 September. The first part of consultation among the leaders will be followed by a four day retreat, 20-25 on the theme “Holiness a challenge for the Third Millennium”. This will be followed by a pilgrimage 25-30 September to some of the most visited shrines in Italy.
The Meeting will be attended by about 1,000 charismatic leaders from 72 different countries who will be joined also by representatives of other Church Movements and other Christian Churches.
