Santiago (Agenzia Fides) - "Radio has been, for several years, one of the institutions that has received the most trust from citizens. In this time of social change, we must reinforce our commitment to the values that guide us towards building a better community, based on the Gospel and the transmission of the Good News". These are the words of greeting that the President of the Association of Catholic Radio Broadcasters of Chile, ARCA, Marcelo Barrera, addressed to all the men and women who work in the country's radio sector, especially those who make up the network's teams. On the occasion of September 21, Radio Workers' Day, Barrera expressed affectionate greetings to those who work in the ARCA network stations, while and at the same time encouraged them in their present and future challenges. "The efforts to maintain the services that connect us with our public are, undoubtedly, our greatest concern", underlines the President, hoping that this September 21st will be "a day of reflection and rest in which we find the strength to continue to grow our service and therefore that of our entire community". ARCA currently brings together more than 33 associated Catholic stations, with a presence in 13 regions of the country, and a huge number of digital stations on the web. The Andean area of Latin America, particularly in Chile, has always privileged radio as a means of communication and information. Catholic radio stations have never stopped working to promote communion and cooperation, and are currently facing a difficult period from an economic point of view, following the restrictions caused by the pandemic.
