Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On May 20, 2021 Cardinal Luis Antonio G. Tagle, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, appointed the rev. Fr. Thumma Vijay Prathap, of the Salesians of Don Bosco (SDB) as Rector of the "St. John" Regional Philosophical Seminary in Visakhapatnam (India ).
The new Rector was born on February 28, 1973, made his religious profession on May 24, 1993 and was ordained a priest in 2002.
After his ordination he was Professor of Philosophy in the Seminary of which he is now appointed Rector (2003-2008) , then he was assistant parish priest in Italy (2009-2010). He obtained a doctorate in philosophy at the Pontifical Salesian University, in Rome (2011-2014). He went back to India where he was Professor and, since 2018, Vice-rector of the Seminary of Karunapuram. (SL) (Agenzia Fides, 31/7/2021)
