AMERICA/PARAGUAY - "We are all outgoing missionary disciples": formation for men and women religious and priests

Asuncion (Agenzia Fides) - With the slogan "We are all outgoing missionary disciples", the Conference of Religious of Paraguay (CONFEREPAR) has scheduled the traditional week of formation which began on Tuesday, July 13 and ends today, Thursday, July 15. The chosen theme is "Listening process of the Ecclesial Assembly of Latin America and the Caribbean".
The main themes of this 62nd edition of the week are as follows: Putting the national health situation into perspective (health, economic, political and ecclesial dimensions); Animation of the listening process of the Ecclesial Assembly of Latin America and the Caribbean; Pastoral letter from the Bishops of Paraguay on Annex C of the Treaty of Itaipú.
Rather, priests from all over the country will meet, in virtual form, from July 19 to 22 for the traditional "national days" of formation and meeting. On Monday 19, they will conduct an analysis of the national situation, the economic situation and its impact on society in the context of the pandemic. They will then do group work to discern and discuss the issues. On Tuesday 20, the theme will be "the revision of Annex C of the Itaipu Treaty", then the executive secretary of the clergy, Father Gustavo Benítez, will present a summary of the socio-political situation of the country. On Wednesday 21 and Thursday 22, questions relating to continuing education and the constant challenges of evangelization will be addressed. According to the last Statistical Yearbook of the Church, Paraguay has 418 diocesan priests and 478 religious, 1,164 religious and 315 religious who are not priests.
