Caracas (Agenzia Fides) - The Venezuelan Episcopal Conference (CEV) has summoned the representatives of the priests of the various ecclesiastical circumscriptions to the II joint Virtual Meeting of Bishops and Priests, to be held on June 30, 2021 from 8.30 to 1 pm, on the theme "The parish priest in times of pandemic: his pastoral challenges". As the note from the CEV sent to Fides reports, the issue will be addressed with the aim of "strengthening the experience of sacramental fraternity" and responding, as leaders of the country's parishes, to the various challenges that arise today, in front of the reality of the pandemic, especially in the dimension of accompaniment and care for the most distant and vulnerable people. The meeting was organized in response to the requests expressed during the first meeting, held in January 2021, in which the need to promote spaces for dialogue "more frequently and closer in time was expressed, in order to continue nurturing communion, sacramental fraternity and synodality in ministerial service". On this occasion, two priests will participate from each archdiocese, diocese and apostolic vicariate of Venezuela, who may be the same as in the first meeting or two new ones. Once designated, they will have to send an e-mail with the complete data, as well as a summary of the answers to the following questions: "Have the conclusions sent from the I Joint Virtual Meeting of Bishops and Priests favored the spiritual and pastoral life of your presbytery? And in what way does the parish accompany, in these times of pandemic, the poorest, most remote and vulnerable? Is it an outgoing missionary parish for the new times?". During this II Joint Virtual Meeting of Bishops and Priests, priests and their pastors will share their impressions on the spiritual and pastoral life of the ministry in recent months around the pandemic and will discuss the experience of the communities, regarding the attitude of the "outgoing missionary parish" according to the needs of today's world.
