OCEANIA/PAPUA NEW GUINEA - Appointment of the Auxiliary Bishop of Wabag

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - The Holy Father Francis has appointed rev. Justin Ain Soongie, of the clergy of Wabag, currently Vicar General of the same see and professor at the Seminary of Banz, in the Archdiocese of Mt. Hagen, as auxiliary bishop of the diocese of Wabag (Papua New Guinea), assigning him the titular see of Forma.
His Exc. Mgr. Justin Ain Soongie was born on 2 June 1973 in Tsikiro in the Diocese of Wabag, Papua New Guinea. A native of the province of Enga, he was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Wabag on May 11, 2005.
After having completed his postulancy (1993-1994) and novitiate (1995-1996) with the Brothers of Charity, he continued his formative path ad presbiteratum in the Good Shepherd Seminary-Fatima (1997-1999) and in the Catholic Theological Institute, Bomana (2002-2004). In 2014 he obtained a Licentiate in Moral Theology at the Pontifical Urbaniana University in Rome.
Since his ordination he has held the following positions: 2005: Parish Vicar in Tsikiro; 2005 - 2006: parish vicar in Mang and Mariant; 2006 - 2011: parish priest in Mang; 2011 - 2014: Studies for a Licentiate in Sacred Theology in Rome at the Pontifical Urbaniana University; since 2014: parish priest in Sari; since 2014: Vicar General of the Diocese of Wabag; since 2014: Lecturer in the Seminary of Banz in the Archdiocese of Mt.
