Hong Kong (Fides Service) - Spreading the Gospel, formation for the laity, contact with Basic Ecclesial Communities, social services, attention for the Church on the mainland are the principal points of a new programme for 2006 issued by the Lay Catholic Association made public during a recent Association assembly. Hong Kong diocesan bulletin Kong Ko Bao said more than 60 parish council members and other members participating in the 47th annual general meeting of the Hong Kong Lay Catholic Association, discussed and approved the 2006 programme based on 6 principal points: evangelisation of families, continuing on from the year of evangelisation; formation for the laity: formation in evangelisation for members of parish pastoral councils; contact with Basic Ecclesial Communities: visit parishes, take part in meetings for Community leaders; diocesan activity: support young vocations, follow the Congress of Women in East Asia; social service: take part in social service group activity; attention for the Church on the mainland, with initiatives of exchange and awareness building.
