ASIA - Eucharist: theme of 9th Plenary Assembly of the Federation Asian Bishops’ Conferences

Bangkok (Fides Service) - The Eucharist will be the main focus of the 9th plenary assembly of the Federation of the Asian Bishops’ Conference FABC in 2008. The Bishops’ chose the theme to follow up reflection proposed by the Year of the Eucharist proclaimed by John Paul II and the Synod of Bishops on the Eucharist held in Rome in October 2005.
The FABC plenary assembly held every four years is the decision making organ of the Federation. In the meantime local Churches in Asia are preparing for the Asian Mission Congress in Chiang, Mai, in Thailand, from 19 to 22 October this year on the theme: “The Story of Jesus Christ in Asia. A celebration of faith and life”. The congress organised by the FABC is expected to gather 1,000 participants mainly from Asia but also from other continents. This important Asian Church event, the first of new millennium, will reflect on commitment for evangelisation in Asia. (Agenzia Fides 23/03/2006 Righe: 20 Parole: 201)
