La Paz (Agenzia Fides) - The meeting of the Directors of the Pontifical Mission Societies of Bolivia was inaugurated on April 27, virtually, to evaluate, coordinate and plan the activities of the PMS. During the meeting, which will end on Thursday, April 29, the diocesan directors and some collaborators will focus on the following topics: reports on the activities of the jurisdictions, fundraising, the Ecclesial Assembly of Latin America and the Caribbean. They will also discuss the preparation and development of material for the animation for World Mission Sunday, which this year will be held on Sunday, October 24. According to the note from the PMS sent to Agenzia Fides, the meeting was opened by Bishop Waldo Barrionuevo, National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies: "Welcome to the directors of each jurisdiction, grateful for the work they do especially in this difficult time of the pandemic, in which we must reinvent ourselves as promoters of what missionary work is in each of the jurisdictions, encouraging the parish priests, bishops and all pastoral agents, so that this mandate that the Lord has given us, becomes effective, with that joy that the Lord proposes to us from the Gospel". Likewise, Archbishop Adolfo Bittschi, Auxiliary Bishop of Sucre and at the Head for Missions of the Bolivian Episcopal Conference, shared a welcome message to the participants, invoking "the Lord to send us the Holy Spirit, so that we, like the apostles, may proclaim that we are children of such a good Father; we must evangelize, because the Church which is not missionary, ceases to be Church; the missionary vocation is precious, thank you for your commitment and your work despite the pandemic. God bless you and accompany you". On the first day of work, the diocesan Directors shared the activities carried out in recent months, in which they highlighted virtual meetings, animation of young missionaries, the celebration of the Day of Missionary Children and Adolescents 2021, support in solidarity, among other activities they carried out in the context of the pandemic that still continues in the country.
