Brasilia (Agenzia Fides) - The chairman of the Bishops' Conference of Brazil (CNBB), Archbishop Walmor Oliveira de Azevedo of Belo Horizonte (MG), recorded a video to contribute in the participation of the 6th Brazilian Social Week, organized by the Pastoral Episcopal Commission for Social Affairs. Inspired by the Pope's meeting with the country's social movements, the VI Brazilian Social Week adopted the motto "Global Movement for Life - for the Earth, Home and Work".
The goal of the 6th Social Week, which was approved during the 57th General Assembly of the Bishops' Conference, is to mobilize society with a view to strengthening democracy. Another goal is to strengthen the Church's social work measures to protect the population and in particular vulnerable groups.
In his message, the chairman of the CNBB reiterates with a quote from the first letter of St. Paul the Apostle to the Corinthians that faith without love is nothing for Christians. Love is therefore the seal of authenticity of the Christian faith. The 6th Brazilian Social Week, which is sponsored by the Episcopal Pastoral Commission for Social Affairs of the CNBB, offers each of us the unique opportunity to combine love and action so that everyone can claim the right to land, shelter and work", said the Bishop.
