Rushooka (Agenzia Fides) - "With three of my sisters we came to Uganda almost two years ago to start a new mission among our poorest brothers and sisters, in the parish of Rushooka. We are still trying to learn the language, culture and local traditions. Every day, through prayer, we listen to the Holy Spirit and try to respond to the needs of our people. The mission is a truly profound experience": this is what Sister Ursa Marincic, Slovenian religious of the School Sisters of St. Francis of Christ the King tells Fides, speaking from the mission of Rushooka, in Southern Uganda. "A great gift for us is to be together, to be a missionary community. We feel the mutual support, but also that of those who support us from afar, with prayer and charity, all over the world. We want to express our 'Thank you' from our heart, because only if we are together, God can do great things through us".
While the religious spend their lives at the service of the poorest and the most destitute, children and young people, the elderly and the sick, Sister Ursa observes: "The most precious gift is God himself: in him is our strength and with him everything is possible (Mt 19:26). It is he who called us, it is he who loves us and it is he who takes care of us. It is he who calls every baptized person to be a missionary of his love and mercy. Do not be afraid to answer him, as the Prophet Isaiah says "Here I am, send me". (LB) (Agenzia Fides, 23/9/2020)
