Caracas (Agenzia Fides) - On this occasion, the Venezuelan Episcopate will meet virtually, thus respecting the prevention measures established for the Covid-19 pandemic. The ordinary plenary Assembly of the CEV number CXIV will therefore be held virtually from 7 to 10 July. On Tuesday 7 July, at 9 am, the Assembly will open with an adoration of the Blessed Sacrament led by Mgr. Mario Moronta, First Vice President of CEV.
The opening of the works will be entrusted to the President of CEV, Mgr. José Luis Azuaje Ayala, who from Maracaibo will present a vision of the national and ecclesial panorama, as the note of the CEV press office sent to Fides informs. As usual, there will be the greetings on behalf of Archbishop Mgr. Aldo Giordano, apostolic Nuncio to Venezuela.
Among the topics that will be developed: the pastoral challenges posed to the Church in Venezuela by the Covid-19 pandemic, the sharing of concrete actions according to Pope Francis's "Plan to rise again" and the challenges that the reality of Venezuela presents today. Also on the agenda there is the preparation for the beatification of Venerable "Dr. José Gregorio Hernández". (CE) (Agenzia Fides, 3/7/2020)
