Cochabamba (Agenzia Fides) - Every Sunday the missionary rosary prayer is broadcast as a message of hope, faith and motivation for the faithful in this moment of pandemic on the social networks of the Pontifical Mission Societies of Cochabamba (Bolivia); the executive Secretary of the mission and PMS commission of the archdiocese of Cochabamba, Carla Delgado, explained how the initiative was born. "Two Sundays ago we started a live broadcast via zoom, with the collaboration of the Archdiocese's communication department, to share the missionary rosary on social networks. We must pray for all those who are currently fighting for health and for life".
In Bolivia the health emergency is always aggravated by the political situation. The country is experiencing a delicate transition, prolonged by the spread of the coronavirus, always awaiting the new elections after the cancellation of those held in autumn and the overthrow of Evo Morales (see Fides, 6/5/2020). The Bishops gathered in the Episcopal Conference had insisted on the urgency of intervening with precise indications to the population, Mgr Ricardo Centellas, elected Archbishop of Sucre and apostolic administrator of Potosí, last Sunday criticized the delays with which the Government is responding to the Covid-19 emergency and said that the current government, chaired by Jeanine Áñez, should be a transitional executive, instead it appears as a government that "cares too much about placing its people in public institutions" (see Fides, 14/5/2020).
Bolivia currently has 3,500 positive Covid cases and has registered 165 deaths so far. (CE) (Agenzia Fides, 16/5/2020)
