Quito (Agenzia Fides) - The Presidential Council and some Bishops of the Episcopal Conference of Ecuador (ECE) met with the Government Minister, Maria Paula Romo, and her councilors, to discuss the issue of the reopening of churches and the recovery of the various pastoral activities.
As reported in the statement released by the Episcopal Conference, sent to Agenzia Fides, "the Bishops, in addition to ratifying their commitment to collaborate, as a Church, in solidarity campaigns in favor of the poorest and to spiritually accompany families, also made present that the reopening of churches responds to the spiritual desire of a people who are mostly believers and Catholics".
To achieve this goal, the press release informs, a Commission made up of government and Church representatives will elaborate the protocols that will be applied "progressively, according to the concrete situation of each city and sector". "This important step - concludes the statement of the Council of the ECE - helps us to keep hope alive and to find suitable solutions for both the health and the economy of our country".
