Bogota (Agenzia Fides) - In consideration of the emergency health situation due to the coronavirus pandemic (Covid-19), the Permanent Secretariat of the Colombian Episcopate (SPEC) has created the web microsite https://iglesiaantecoronavirus.cec.org.co where the pastoral statements and actions of the Catholic Church in Colombia are hosted in the current context.
The microsite also contains the press releases of the institutions of the Catholic Church at a Latin American and world level.
As a contribution to the experience of Holy Week and Easter 2020, pastoral initiatives and audiovisual material for families can also be found. With the prospect of being able to suggest guiding elements on how to organize the time of family prayer for this "quarantine", the site offers some sections, such as the children's Way of the Cross, prepared by the Pontifical Mission Societies.
In addition to the specially prepared site, the Colombian Church has launched an appeal for solidarity, launching the "Christian sharing of goods" campaign, which is now in its 39th edition and this year is dedicated to the coronavirus emergency. During a virtual press conference, Mgr. Héctor Fabio Henao Gaviria, director of the National Secretariat for Social Pastoral Care, asked not to let oneself be overcome by indifference in the difficult moments that the country is going through due to the coronavirus pandemic. "It is necessary to learn the lesson of this emergency, including fraternity as an indispensable way to overcome adversity. For this reason, we ask for solidarity with the sick, the poor and the needy", he said. (CE) (Agenzia Fides, 11/4/2020)
