Calcutta (Fides Service) - Mother Teresa is loved and admired throughout India, Albania and all over the world: her message of love and service for the poorest of the poor and her wrinkled face belong to the whole of humanity. In view of her Beatification on 19 October in Rome, SIGNIS Communications Centre in Calcutta produced a video on the life and work of this outstanding Christian figure.
“Beata”, the 17 minute documentary available in English, Hindi and Bengali, illustrates the reasons for the Church’s decision to beatify the Mother. The video shows Mother Teresa comforting, caring, serving. It has recordings of her talks explaining about her ministry of love for the poorest of the poor. The sound track also includes Indian music and songs.
Father Robin Gomes, Salesian priest who worked on the documentary says: “This presentation of Mother Teresa is ideal for helping people of other faiths to understand fully her message and for this reason we will show it at a number of presentations organised in view of the Beatification.
Another Salesian, Father C. M. Paul, president of SIGNIS-India, SIGNIS is a world wide association of Catholic radio, cinema and television said: “The video can also serve for education and catechesis with regard to service to toe poor, humility and sacrifice. The video is our way of rendering homage to Mother Teresa – he added – in the hope that by learning about her life people will come to realise how deeply they are loved by God” PA (Fides Service 11/9/2003 EM lines 30 Words: 329)
