AMERICA/BRAZIL - Tourism operators, among the sectors most affected by the coronavirus

Brasilia (Agenzia Fides) - "Tourism operators are and will be one of the groups most affected by the pandemic. Now they are on the front line, taking care of those who move around the world and, subsequently, they will suffer the consequences that this moment will bring to the world economy". This was underlined by the National Coordinator of the Pastoral Care of Tourism of the Brazilian Bishops’ Conference (CNBB), Father Manoel Oliveira Filho, in the note released by the CNBB, sent to Fides.
Considering the social isolation adopted by governments around the world to combat the spread of the coronavirus, the closure of borders and the cancellation of travel, the Pastoral Care of Tourism wanted to show its proximity to all professionals working in the tourism sector who suffer severe consequences in their personal, family and professional lives due to Covid-19.
The National Coordinator sent operators of the world of tourism a starting point for prayer and reflection in the face of the reality of the coronavirus: "Evangelization begins within us!". Fr. Manoel asks everyone be united in prayer so that this pandemic ends. "In these days, we will travel within ourselves and find the One who will help us to get in touch with the deepest and most true things in us", stresses the priest. (SL) (Agenzia Fides, 24/3/2020)
