ASIA/SYRIA - Putin and Assad visit the Greek Orthodox cathedral in Damascus

Damascus (Agenzia Fides) - On Tuesday 7 January, Russian President Vladimir Putin, visiting Damascus, went to the Greek Orthodox cathedral of the Syrian capital, together with Syrian President Bashar Assad. The two political leaders were greeted by Yohanna X Yazigi, Patriarch of Antioch of the Greek Orthodox. During his visit, Putin brought a Marian icon as a gift. (GV) (Agenzia Fides, 8/1/2020)
