Abidjan (Agenzia Fides) - Every year on January 1st the World Day of Peace is celebrated, which aims to defend peace from the dangers that constantly threaten it. Pope Francis, for this 53rd edition, in his message entitled "Peace as a way of hope: dialogue, reconciliation and ecological conversion" invites us to "a new way of living in the common home, of being present to one another with one's own diversity. ”This ecological conversion leads" to having a new look at life "and must" be understood in an integral way ".
Making his papal message his own, Cardinal Jean Pierre Kutwa, Metropolitan Archbishop of Abidjan, on December 30, 2019 during the homily of the Peace Mass which he presided in advance of the date of January 1, in the Saint Paul Cathedral of Abidjan , called on the Ivorian political class to "overcome all fears that stand in the way of peace" and reconciliation in Ivory Coast.
In the presence of the Head of State, Alassane Ouattara, and his wife, the Vice President of the Republic, the Prime Minister and members of the government, Cardinal Kutwa asked for grace for the supporters of the former President of the National Assembly, Guillaume Soro arrested during recent events, and called into question the "belligerent attitude of all political parties", asking to "disarm the hearts to dress them with humility, forgiveness and peace". In his homily, Cardinal Kutwa made an appeal to those who have responsibility for Ivorian political decisions, for ecological conversion, citing the problem of global warming and the mismanagement of natural resources.
