ASIA - "To be with" is the way to bring Christ to Asia

Rome (Agenzia Fides) - "To be with. From here begins the Christian announcement in Asia. 'To be with' is the way to evangelize. It is important first of all to be, our presence in a context, a community, a society. Then comes to do. The silent, rich, happy life of every Christian attracts because it communicates Jesus. The Christian proclamation is the testimony of a happy life, brimming with joy: this is the mission of Christians in Asia": says to Agenzia Fides the Dominican Vietnamese Fr. Joseph Nguyen Tat Thang OP, on the sidelines of the conference organized on 18 and 19 December in Rome by the Pontifical Theological Faculty "San Bonaventura" - Seraphicum, in collaboration with the Pontifical Urbaniana University.
The Dominican Tot Tahng, speaking on the topic "Trends of Consecrated Life in the Churches of Southeast Asia", notes to Fides that "among the greatest challenges for consecrated life in the Asian continent, crossed by rapid social, anthropological and cultural changes, there is formation, to understand, to empathize with culture, to facilitate the encounter of every person with Christ, we are all Asians, we are messengers of the Good News, and the collaboration between different charisms and different religious families is important, given that every congregation presents and lives an aspect of the face of Christ, and we all form a mosaic that restores and gives the face of Christ to society, in every Asian nation".
Furthermore, the Dominican continues, "the way to proclaim is the witness of the Gospel: the Christian communities in the different Asian countries, often small minorities, are a sign of the presence and life of Christ. As the exhortation n. 41 post-synodal Ecclesia in Asia says, their presence testifies the search for God, shows fraternal communion, expresses being next to brothers, or the service of charity to one's neighbor. This is the way to build the Kingdom of God in Asia today"
Finally, the Vietnamese priest notes that "in Asia much of the Church's pastoral and missionary activity is entrusted to catechists. In Vietnam we have 50,000. In the first millennium the Church went ahead thanks to the responsibility of the apostles and priests; in the second millennium the religious and consecrated are the protagonists of the mission, the third is the millennium of the laity, in Asia and throughout the world".
