Ancud (Agenzia Fides) - The Fazenda International Missionary School has sown hope in the diocese of Ancud, Chile, as witnessed by the Bishops’ Conference of Chile with the note sent to Fides. Among the celebrations promoted for the Extraordinary Missionary Month, the "Fazenda de la Esperanza" dedicated forty days of mission in which it visited several countries, including Chile.
According to the note, 50 volunteer missionaries left on September 20 to "live" the International Missionary School. In this group there are people from Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Germany and Mexico. The bus that brought them traveled through Chile, and will now have to go to Argentina, then Uruguay, Bolivia and Paraguay.
In Chile the missionaries were in the Diocese of Talca and now in Ancud. At each stage of the journey we pray, we celebrate the Eucharist, we share moments of reflection and then exchange experiences.
The Fazenda Missionary School has the characteristics of welcoming people who have suffered for some reason or have had serious problems, and then find the strength to get out.
The practice of service to others, the visit to the elderly, prisoners and the sick in the hospital or to those who live in poverty, mark a type of missionary life that "recovers" people who for various reasons have closed themselves in their existential problem.
La Fazenda has several places that welcome young people or people in situations of need. In Chile there is the Chiloé headquarters, open since April 2018. (CE) (Agenzia Fides, 18/10/2019)
