Sydney (Agenzia Fides) - On October 20, the whole world will celebrate World Missions Day, which this year represents the height of the Extraordinary Missionary Month announced by Pope Francis for October 2019. Among the initiatives promoted, it is of particular importance the campaign launched on social media and titled "What is your mission?" to which thousands of people from Europe, the Americas, Africa and Asia -Pacific have responded, using the hashtag #MyMission on social media like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Snapchat.
"#MyMission campaign poses a simple question that perhaps we often meditate on", notes Simone Medri, digital and online manager of "Catholic Mission" Australia, the Australian Direction of the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS), which is carrying out, on different social media, the campaign: "# Mymissionis ... What's yours?". "What better opportunity to put into words what our mission is during the Extraordinary Missionary Month?", highlights the Australian PMS.
"The diocesan offices of Catholic Mission have organized special events that will be carried out throughout the month, while, at a national level, the Extraordinary Missionary Month represents the height of the gathering and training in schools and parishes. Initiatives such as #MyMission campaign aim to promote a better understanding of the role that the young and the less young have in the mission", says the PMS note sent to Fides. The motto of the Extraordinary Missionary Month, "Baptized and sent: the Church of Christ on mission in the world" sums up the call to be missionaries in the daily life of Catholics: "Celebrating this month will help us first of all to rediscover the missionary dimension of our faith in Jesus Christ, a faith that was given to us in baptism", recalls Catholic Mission, citing the Pope's message in his message for World Mission Day 2019.
Thanks to the online campaign and on social networks, throughout the month of October, faithful from all over the world are coming together to offer, communicate and proclaim that gift that is their mission.
