EUROPE/POLAND - Archbishop Dal Toso at the PMS of Poland: thanks for your generous daily missionary commitment

Warsaw (Agenzia Fides) - Archbishop Giampietro Dal Toso, Assistant Secretary of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples and President of the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS), visited the National Direction of the PMS, in Warsaw, on Tuesday 8 October, where he met the team that works there and the employees of "Missio-Polonia" publishing house. The President of the PMS is in Poland to thank the Polish Bishops’ Conference for its generous missionary commitment and for the enormous daily work of the PMS in animation, formation and missionary cooperation.
According to information sent to Agenzia Fides, during the visit to the PMS national headquarters, the Archbishop wished everyone a fruitful Extraordinary Missionary Month experience, thanking for the material and spiritual contribution of the PMS of Poland to the missionary work of the Church in world. Citing the many initiatives successfully organized and carried out (Star Singers, Adoption of the Missionary Seminarians, Living Rosary for the missions) Mgr. Dal Toso underlined the importance of the reawakening of missionary awareness and the universality of the Church, which are the fundamental tasks of the PMS.
With regard to the Extraordinary Missionary Month, which has just begun, the Archbishop in particular appreciated two Polish PMS initiatives: the "Novena of prayer" that began in January by the enclosed orders for the good preparation and the fruitful experience of the Extraordinary Missionary Month, and the publication "Leave today for the mission".
Mgr. Dal Toso also thanked Mgr. Tomasz Atlas, National Director of the PMS, for his direct commitment to the birth of the PMS in Lithuania (see Fides, 25/7/2019) and for the current assistance to their foundation in Latvia. In memory of the meeting, the icon of the Madonna of Częstochowa was given to the Archbishop. (SL) (Agenzia Fides, 9/10/2019)
