Turin (Agenzia Fides) - From 27 to 29 September, the traditional missionary appointment with Harambée will take place in Turin (Valdocco), which this year will be enriched by an important anniversary: the 150th missionary expedition. In fact, 36 Salesians and 13 Daughters of Mary Help of Christians will receive the missionary cross during the celebration on Sunday 29 September in the Basilica of Mary Help of Christians, as Ans agency informs. Don Bosco's missionary dream still continues, after 150 years. 9,523 missionaries were sent in 150 expeditions. "We must respond generously to the Lord: if today the Salesian charism lives in 134 nations, it is due to confreres like these who have brought the Gospel into the world by educating the young" said the Rector Major of the Salesians, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime.
The event begins on September 27th. On Saturday 28 September, the Missioni Don Bosco Ethnographic Museum will be inaugurated. Wanted and designed to make the knowledge of the missionary world increasingly accessible to the pilgrims of Valdocco. The new space will contain many objects from the daily life of ethnic minorities that the Salesians have encountered over the years in mission lands. During the days of Harambée the re-reading of the testimonies of Salesian Saints is planned, together with the presentation of the departing ones. On Sunday 29 September, at 11 am, Fr. Ángel Fernández Artime, Rector Major, flanked by the Mother General of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, Mother Yvonne Reungoat, will hand over the missionary cross to Salesians and Daughters of Mary Help of Christians who are preparing to begin this new journey, on the eve of the Extraordinary Missionary Month.
