Częstochowa (Agenzia Fides) - The celebration of the Extraordinary Missionary Month and the announcement of the National Missionary Congress, scheduled for 2021, were the main themes of the autumnal meeting of diocesan Directors of the PMS and representatives of Community missionaries in Poland, which was held from 10 to 11 September at the Major Seminary of Częstochowa.
According to information sent to Agenzia Fides, the meeting was led by the National Director of the PMS, Fr. Tomasz Atłas, who after welcoming the participants invited to reflect on the upcoming Extraordinary Missionary Month: how to live it, how to use the subsidies prepared and how to start a new phase of work regarding animation and missionary cooperation.
Therefore Bishop Jerzy Mazur, president of the Episcopal Commission for missions, presented the program of the celebrations of the Extraordinary Missionary Month inviting all missionary communities of Poland to open the hearts of the faithful to the missionary needs of the universal Church with their missionary witness. The Bishop announced the preparations for the 5th National Missionary Congress, which will take place in June 2021 with the slogan: "Listen and act". Its objective will be to revive missionary zeal by showing the beauty of the universal missionary vocation and to make contemporary missionary challenges known.
Those responsible of the mission training Center, MIVA Polska, and the "Ad Gentes" project office then talked about their activities. The first day of the meeting ended with a Mass presided by Bishop Mazur, who in his homily invited the missionary communities to be the salt of the earth, giving a missionary taste to the Church in Poland.
In the evening, during the prayer of the appeal of Jasna Góra, Fr. Tomasz Atłas introduced the participants into the atmosphere of this extraordinary time that is approaching and read the prayer proposed by Pope Francis for the Extraordinary Missionary Month. This prayer will be read every day in October during the appeal of Jasna Góra. On the second day of the meeting, the PMS National Secretaries summarized the past year and presented the program of activities for the new year. (SL) (Agenzia Fides, 16/9/2019)
