Port Moresby (Agenzia Fides) - "A caring God loves us regardless of what we do. All he asks of us are constant acts of kindness and holiness towards those who need it most. This is why we are here", said Fr. Michael Donovan, SVD, spiritual director of the Holy Spirit Seminary of Bomana addressing participants in the annual retreat for bishops, priests, religious and lay personnel of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands. The meeting, held in recent days, was held at the Xavier Institute in Bomana and was attended by 28 members.
"We wanted to base our seminar on living the paths of Christ in our lives, in line with the apostolic exhortation of Pope Francis' 'Gaudete et Exsultate', on the call to holiness in the contemporary world", explained the speaker. "It was an opportunity for the staff to take a break from work and the daily routine of their lives, to reconnect in prayer with God".
"A spiritual enrichment" as defined by Nyleptha Kenny, executive assistant of the secretary of the Conference, who urged those present to "live holiness in everyday life". "This was a time for all of us to become stronger in the Lord. We cannot always occupy our lives with professional duties", explained Kenny.
There were moments of prayer, group discussions among the members. Furthermore, on the first evening the film ‘A question of faith’ was screened in which the importance of faith was highlighted to understand that God works in a mysterious way. (AP) (Agenzia Fides, 12/9/2019)
