AMERICA/PERU - Resignation of the Apostolic Vicar of Pucallpa and appointment of his successor

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of of the Apostolic Vicariate of Pucallpa (Peru), presented by his Exc. Mgr. Gaetano Galbusera Fumagalli, S.D.B., and appointed the rev. Fr. Augusto Martín Quijano Rodríguez, S.D.B., currently Provincial Councilor, Apostolic Vicar of the same Vicariate.
The rev. Fr Augusto Martín Quijano Rodríguez, S.D.B., was born in Alija, diocese of Huaraz, Peru, on 7 March 1969. He studied philosophy in Lima (1992-1993) and theology in Santiago, Chile (1994-1998 ). He was ordained a priest on November 22, 1997.
Since his ordination, he has carried out the following roles: 1998-2000: (Lima) Councilor of the San Juan Bosco community; 2000-2001 (Rimac): Vicar-San Juan Bosco; 2001-2005 (Cusco): Parish priest-Quebrada Honda; 2001-2003 (Cusco): Responsible for the Quebrada Honda Community; 2001-2008: Provincial Delegate for the Missions; 2004-2008 (Cusco): Director of the Community Quebrada Honda; 2006-2008: Provincial Delegate for missionary animation; 2008-2010 (Lima: Director and Bursar of the San Francisco de Sales Community; 2008-2011 (Rome): Provincial Councilor; 2009-2012: Provincial Delegate for the Missions; 2010-2016 (Cusco: Director of the Monte Salvado Community; 2011- 2016: (Cusco): Bursar of Monte Salvado Community; since 2016 (Yurimaguas): Director of San Lorenzo Community; since 2017: Provincial Councilor.
