Almaty (Agenzia Fides) - "Time passes quickly and we are increasingly immersed in our commitments, all focused on the well-being and development of children. Among the emergencies faced, there is that of providing children with the right tools for their education. There is always a bit of concern at the beginning of the school year, due to the uncertainty of being able to provide every child with everything that is necessary for school. On the other hand, experience teaches us that friends and volunteers, who among other things grow in number, never leave us alone in this annual challenge. Providence assists us": this is what the "Arca" Association tells Agenzia Fides, which led by the missionary Fr. Guido Trezzani, runs the community of "the Ark Village" in Talgar, near Almaty, and welcomes disabled children, orphans or those with family difficulties. One of the fundamental areas of commitment of the Village is that of education, to ensure that children have adequate educational training.
Moreover, in addition to the play-recreational activities dedicated to children - emphasizes the note - practical needs are also taken care of, such as the maintenance of the structures that make up the Center, carried out especially in the summer months: "The maintenance of the structures requires time, in order to keep the ten houses in the Village in good condition. The older children, year after year, learn to solve the simplest problems. For other structural problems one needs to turn to professionals. And however friends come to our rescue. This year was the turn of a group of volunteers from the NurOtan youth movement". In the note, the importance of partnership is underlined, of which the Ark enjoys, and of collaborations with small local voluntary associations or large companies and institutions, such as Siemens, Almaty Management University, Bayer, Magnum Cash & Carry.
The Ark Village currently hosts about 70 children, orphans or families at risk, and about thirty have physical and mental handicaps. The first steps were taken in 1997, with the reception of the children of a state orphanage nearing closure. Today, children from families destroyed by violence or alcoholism are also welcomed.
