OCEANIA/PAPUA NEW GUINEA - Appointment of the Rector of the Good Shepherd Interdiocesan Seminary in the Archdiocese of Mount Hagen

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On February 22, 2019, Cardinal Fernando Filoni, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, appointed the rev. Raphael Moka Mel, of the Archdiocese of Mount Hagen as Rector of the Good Shepherd Interdiocesan Seminary in the Archdiocese of Mount Hagen, Papua New Guinea.
The new Rector was born on March 20, 1971 in Rogley (Penda), Dei District, in the Archdiocese of Mount Hagen, and was ordained a priest on November 22, 2000. After attending the "Good Shepherd" Seminary and the Catholic Theological Institute, he obtained his licentiate in Missiology at the Pontifical Urbaniana University. After his ordination he was assistant parish priest and parish priest in different communities, as well as diocesan director of vocations. He was vice-rector, academic dean and lecturer at the "Good Shepherd" Seminary. (SL) (Agenzia Fides, 10/6/2019)
