Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - on April 4, 2019 Cardinal Fernando Filoni, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, appointed Fr. Mathias Tshithigona, OMI, as National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) in Namibia for five years (2019-2024).
The new National Director is a native of the Archdiocese of Windhoek (Namibia), he is 45 years old, and was ordained a priest in 2007. Since his ordination he has carried out his pastoral ministry in two parishes as assistant priest and was then parish priest/moderator of the pastoral unit of Otjiwarongo (2009/2013). He then studied in Rome, obtaining a licentiate in missiology at the Pontifical Gregoriana University and attended some courses at the Angelicum. Since 2015 he has been the parish priest/moderator of the pastoral unit of Okatana, including 6 parishes. (SL) (Agenzia Fides, 7/6/2019)
