Seoul (Agenzia Fides) - The Committee for Reconciliation of the Korean People of the Archdiocese of Seoul has opened registrations for the 2019 Wind of Peace - Pilgrimage of Young People from around the world for peace around the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) which includes Goseong , Yanggu, Cheolwon and Yeoncheon.
Organized by the Committee and sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Ministry of Unification, it is an invitation to think together, share together and walk together for peace” in and around the DMZ, which is a meaningful area showing the pain of the Korean War and ecological treasures at the same time.
During the pilgrimage on foot, which will start on August 16th and end on the 22nd, there will be conferences, debates and exchanges of experiences among the participants who will see young people aged 19-27, who care for peace, regardless of religion.
Since 2012, the year of the establishment of the Wind of Peace, groups of young people in different countries such as Laos, Mexico, Malta, the United States, India, China and Pakistan, with different political, cultural and religious backgrounds gather in the DMZ area to share their experiences, pray for peace in the world and on the Korean peninsula.
At the opening ceremony of the 2018 Wind of Peace, Cardinal Andrew Yeom Soo-jung, Archbishop of Seoul said: "I wish you young people longing for peace in and around Korea can have a chance to think about peace while making a pilgrimage to the DMZ area where there’s a rare chance to visit".
