Maputo (Agenzia Fides) - "Hope, Peace and Reconciliation" is the motto chosen for the upcoming apostolic visit of the Holy Father in Mozambique, recalls the message of the Mozambican Bishops dedicated to the visit that Pope Francis will carry out in September in the southern African country.
"These words of the Holy Father have a great echo in the hearts of all of us, because they will encourage us to overcome with courage the traumas caused by the tragic devastation of the tropical cyclones ADL and Kenneth, and to face with faith and hope the difficult situation in which the population of the Province of Cabo Delgado find themselves, due to the repeated armed attacks perpetrated by groups not yet officially identified", says the message sent to Agenzia Fides.
To ensure that the visit of the Holy Father is a moment of grace, we all need to prepare ourselves spiritually", underline the Bishops who decided that special moments of prayer will be held in the Mozambican dioceses in July and August. "To this end, there will be moments of study and reflection on the motto of the papal visit in our parishes and communities, as well as moments of prayer, asking the Lord, through the visit of the Holy Father, to grant us the grace of peace and reconciliation".
May the Virgin of the Immaculate Conception, Patroness of Mozambique, intercede for us and assist us in the preparation of the visit", concludes the message.
The Apostolic Journey of Pope Francis to Mozambique, Madagascar and Mauritius will take place from 4 to 10 September and includes a visit to the cities of Maputo in Mozambique, Antananarivo in Madagascar and Port Louis in Mauritius. (L.M.) (Agenzia Fides, 1/6/2019)
