Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - The Holy Father Francis appointed Rev. Alexandre Yikyi Bazié as Auxiliary Bishop of the diocese of Koudougou (Burkina Faso), of the clergy of the same See, currently Vicar General, assigning him the titular episcopal see of Gummi of Byzacena.
Rev. Alexandre Yikyi Bazié was born on 17 August 1960 in Ténado, district and Diocese of Koudougou and entered the Notre Dame d’Afrique minor Seminary of Koudougou. He followed the philosophical courses at the interdiocesan St Jean-Baptiste Major Seminary in Ouagadougou, continued his theological formation at the interdiocesan St Pierre Claver Major Seminary of Koumi, in Bobo-Dioulasso. He then studied in Rome, at the Pontifical Urbaniana University, where he received a doctorate in dogmatic Theology in 1997. He was ordained a priest on 19 July 1987 and incardinated in the diocese of Koudougou.
Since his ordination he has held the following roles: 1987-1988: Parochial Vicar in Réo;
1988-1992: Parochial Vicar in Didyr; 1992-1992: National chaplain of the scouts; 1992 -1997: Studies in Rome at the Pontifical Urbaniana University; 1997-2005: Professor of Systematic Theology at the Interdiocesan St Pierre Claver Major Seminary of Koumi, in Bobo-Dioulasso;
1998-2005: Rector of the Interdiocesan St Pierre Claver Major Seminary of Koumi, in Bobo-Dioulasso; 2005-2006: Sabbatical year; 2006-2009: Professor at the Catholic University of West Africa (UCAO) in Abidjan (Ivory Coast); 2009-2010: In the Diocese available to the Bishop; 2010-2011: Parish administrator of N.D. de Tourlande, Diocese of Saint-Flour (France); 2011-2016: Parochial Vicar of St Géraud d’Aurillac and Diocesan Responsible for Youth Ministry in the Diocese of Saint-Flour (France); 2016-2018: Parish priest of Saint Alphonse in Réo (Koudougou).
