ASIA/KAZAKHSTAN - Appointment of the Rector of the interdiocesan Seminary "Maria Mater Ecclesiae" in Karaganda

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On 20 July 2018 Cardinal Fernando Filoni, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, appointed the rev. Fr. Pawel Martyniuk, of the clergy of the diocese of Zamosc-Lubaczow (Poland) as Rector of the inter-diocesan Seminary "Maria Mater Ecclesiae" in Karaganda, Kazakhstan.
The new Rector was born on January 15, 1984 in Tomaszow Lubelski (Poland) and was ordained a priest on 6 June 2009. After his primary and secondary studies, at the age of 19 he entered the diocesan seminary of Zamosc-Lubaczow, in Lublin. During his formation he made two mission experiences in Abkhazia. Since his ordination he was parish vicar and religious teacher for 3 years. In 2012 he attended the Missionary Training Center, in Warsaw, to prepare for the mission in Kazakhstan, and at the same time the faculty of missiology at the Cardinal Stefan Vyshinsky University, where he obtained his licentiate in 2016.
In July 2013 he began his ministry in Kazakhstan, in the diocese of Karaganda, where he was vice pastor and parish priest. In 2015 he was appointed Prefect to the education of the inter-diocesan Seminary "Maria Mater Ecclesiae" in Karaganda. (SL) (Agenzia Fides, 1/2/2019)
