Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On 3 July 2018 Cardinal Fernando Filoni, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, appointed His Exc. Mgr. Daniel Fernandez Torres, Bishop of Arecibo as National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) in Puerto Rico for five years (2018-2023).
The new National Director was born in Chicago (United States of America) on April 27, 1964, was ordained a priest on January 7, 1995 and Bishop on April 21, 2007. He was parish vicar, representative of the Bishop of Arecibo in the Council of seminaries, Rector of the Jesus Master seminary, Diocesan Director of Youth Ministry, Director of the Diocesan Center, Academic Dean of the Major Seminary in San Juan, Parish Priest of Nuestra Senora del Carmen in Arecibo.
