ASIA/PAKISTAN - Appointment of the National Director of the PMS, Fr. Asif John Khokhar

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) – On May 24, 2018 Cardinal Fernando Filoni, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, appointed the rev. Fr. Asif John Khokhar as National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) in Pakistan for five years (2018-2023).
The new National Director was born in 1975 and was ordained a priest on December 8, 2001. After attending St. Mary's Minor Seminary in Lahore, he studied philosophy at St. Francis Xavier Seminary in Lahore and theology at St. John Mary Vianney Seminary in Ars, France. He obtained a licentiate in canon law at the Pontifical Urbaniana University in Rome (2007-2010). After his priestly ordination he was part of the staff of the minor seminary, he was parish priest in Islamabad, professor at Our Lady of Lourdes minor Seminary in Rawalpindi. From 2010 to 2012, he was Director of the pastoral center, member of the diocesan Commission for education, Director of the catechetical department, diocesan Director of the PMS, member of the diocesan court, in Rawalpindi. Since 2012 he has served as Rector of the St. Francis Xavier Major Seminary in Lahore and a professor, as well as teaching the inter-congregational formation course for the novitiate and the juniorate.
