ASIA/INDONESIA - Resignation of the Bishop of Maumere and appointment of successor

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On 14 July the Holy Father accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Maumere (Indonesia), presented by His Exc. Mgr. Gerulfus Kherubim Pareira, S.V.D. The Holy Father appointed Rev. Ewaldus Martinus Sedu as Bishop of Maumere, currently Vicar General of the same Circumscription.
Rev. Ewaldus Martinus Sedu was born on July 30, 1963 in Bajawa (Archdiocese of Ende). After attending the Minor Seminary of Mataloko, he completed his philosophical and theological studies in the High School of Philosophy and Theology, remaining in the Interdiocesan Major Seminary of San Pietro in Ritapiret. He was ordained a priest on 7 July 1991 and incardinated in the Archdiocese of Ende. After the creation of the Diocese of Maumere (December 14, 2005), he was incardinated in this last Circumscription. He subsequently held the following positions: 1991-1993: Parish Vicar of Saint Joseph in Maumere; 1993-1995: Parish priest of Maria Madre del Carmelo in Wolofeo; 1995-1997: Parish priest of St. Joseph in Maumere, Head of the Catechetics Commission of Maumere; 1997-2001: Studies for the Licentiate in Pedagogy at the Salesianum in Rome; 2001-2009: Lecturer and Formator at the San Pietro Interdiocesan Major Seminary in Ritapiret; 2010-2015: Rector of the Interdiocesan Major Seminary San Pietro in Ritapiret; since 2015: Vicar General of Maumere.
