Lima (Agenzia Fides) - Caritas Peru realized 40 projects in 2017 with the support of 35 partner organizations, for 29,500 families, and at the same time, through its two social assistance programs, provided 193,306 people with medicines, biomedical equipment and donations, national and international. Also worth mentioning is the work of Caritas during the emergency caused by the phenomenon of El Niño Costero, during which it managed to distribute 1,500 tons of humanitarian aid to 50,000 families affected, with the support of over 400 institutions, companies and people in general , thanks to the "Peru Da La Mano" campaign in collaboration with the RPP Group and the Municipality of San Isidro.
Caritas Peru presented its social report for the year 2017, prepared on the basis of the new Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards, which show the results of its management. Caritas has been a member of the United Nations Global Compact since 2005 and its programs, projects and interventions are aligned with the objectives of sustainable development: end of poverty, zero hunger, health and welfare, quality education, sustainable cities and communities.
All this meant focusing on improving the organization in terms of efficiency and austerity, says the note sent to Agenzia Fides, as well as on strengthening the capabilities of the diocesan network of Caritas in their respective areas of intervention, in step with the standards of management proposed by Caritas Internationalis.
In presenting its financial statements, Caritas Peru shares its responsibility, performance in the economic, social and environmental aspects, as well as its commitment to integral human development and the efforts and initiatives of people and institutions that seek to shape themselves as single human family, worried about the well-being of the poorest.
