Beijing (Agenzia Fides) - From the larger cities, such as Beijing and Guangzhou, to the smaller and more remote villages, Chinese Catholics celebrated the solemnity of Corpus Domini in streets and squares with Eucharistic processions that saw the devout participation and gathering of bishops, priests, religious and faithful.
On Sunday, June 3, in Beijing, the attention of passers-by was attracted by the procession that took place around the parish of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal, in the center of the Capital: a long procession led by the priest who brought the Most Holy, with a multitude of faithful who sang and prayed.
In the diocese of Jin Zhong, in the Province of Shan Xi, the solemnity of Corpus Domini was celebrated on Thursday 31 May. During the solemn Eucharistic celebration, three new priests and a deacon were also ordained. Thousands of faithful witnessed this event, experienced as a moment of celebration by the entire local Church.
In the diocese of Yuci, in the province of He Bei, almost two thousand faithful took part in the solemn mass which was followed by another Mass celebrated in the cathedral in English, to express the pastoral care of the diocese towards the hundreds of immigrant Catholics working in the city, who come from other Countries.
In the Catholic community of Xian Xian (today Cang Zou), the solemn Eucharistic procession of Corpus Domini also reached the "Mount of St. Joseph" and the Village of the Sanctuary of Lourdes.
The multitude of faithful who took part in the solemnity of Corpus Domini in the parish of Chang Shu, in the Diocese of Su Zhou, did not forget to pray for the elderly priests - including an ultracentenarian presbyter - who dedicated their lives to the mission of announcing the Gospel of Christ in those lands.
During the vigils and solemn celebrations of Corpus Domini, several communities throughout China also prayed for students preparing for high school exams and who will have to take the tests for admission to university. (NZ) (Agenzia Fides, 08/06/2018)
