Three of them, the Archbishops of Karachi in Pakistan, Toamasina in Madagascar and Osaka in Japan, are Ordinaries of territories entrusted to the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples.
"The countries of origin - said Pope Francis - express the universality of the Church, which continues to announce the merciful love of God to all men on Earth. Furthermore, the new Cardinals from the Diocese of Rome also show the inseparable link between the see of Peter and the particular Churches spread throughout the world".

Mgr. Sergio Obeso Rivera, Archbishop Emeritus of Xalapa; His Exc. Mgr. Toribio Ticona Porco, the emeritus of Corocoro; Fr. Aquilino Bocos Merino, a Spanish Claretian.
