Mosul (Agenzia Fides) - More than four thousand families of Christian refugees have returned to Mosul and the Nineveh Province in recent months, after Iraqi President Haider al Abadi proclaimed the defeat last 9 December on the entire national territory of the jihadists of the self-proclaimed Islamic State (Daesh). This is what Nawfal Hammadi, governor of the Nineveh province, said on Sunday, March 25th. Hammadi also specified that most of them had found refuge in the autonomous region of Iraqi Kurdistan, after - between June and August 2014 - the conquest of the region by the jihadists of Daesh had pushed Christians to flee from own houses. According to Hammadi - who released his statements to Press TV, the English-language television network linked to Iran - the flow of return of Christian refugees to their homes is destined to resume with intensity when the school and academic year ends.
