Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - Today the Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Dunedin (New Zealand), presented by His Exc. Mgr. Colin David Campbell, and at the same time appointed Rev. Michael Joseph Dooley, as successor.
Rev. Michael Joseph Dooley was born on December 13, 1961 in Invercargill, in the diocese of Dunedin, he studied Philosophy and Theology in the Holy Cross College of Mosgiel. He obtained a Baccalaureate in Theology at the University of Otago in 1987. He was ordained a priest on December 13, 1989 for the clergy of the Diocese of Dunedin.
Since his priestly ordination he has held the following positions: 1990-1994: Parish Vicar of St. Mary's Basilica, Invercargill and, at the same time, Chaplain of Verdon College; 1994-1995: Parish Vicar of Blessed Sacrament Parish Gore, at the same time Chaplain of St. Peter's College; 1995-1998: Higher studies at the Melbourne College of Divinity, obtaining a Master of Theology; 1998-1999: Director of the Holy Cross Seminary formation Center in Mosgiel; 1999-2005: Parish priest of St. Mary Parish in Mosgiel; 2005-2008: Spiritual Director in Holy Cross Seminary, Auckland; since 2008: parish priest of Saint Mary in Mosgiel and St. Peter Chanel in Green Island and, at the same time, chaplain of Kavanagh College (Diocese of Dunedin); since 2016: Vicar General of the Diocese of Dunedin; since 2017: Member of the College of Consultors and Presbyteral Council.
