Buenos Aires (Agenzia Fides) - The Argentineans will greet and show their affection to Pope Francis in Chile. Proximity encourages compatriots of the first South American Pontiff to cross the Andes cordillera and participate in the apostolic visit in Chile. In particular, as Fr Nicolás Retes, of the archdiocese of Buenos Aires, explains to Agenzia Fides, "social and ecclesial movements are organizing coaches", while many other young people (in parishes and among youth Catholic groups, will meet Francis at WYD in Panama), spontaneously coordinate in small groups.
The Argentinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship, with the collaboration of the Ministry of Transport and other bodies, has created a web page with all the useful information for those wishing to travel to Chile during the papal visit (16, 17 and 18 January). Groups from Buenos Aires, Mendoza, Neuquén, Rosario and Humahuaca are expected. According to the Chilean Tourism Secretariat, thanks to the Pope's visit, the number of Argentine tourists will increase this summer by 16% compared to last year, with an estimated total of over two million visits between December 15 and 15 March.
