Shahab Enam Khan, professor of international relations at Jahangimagar University, Dhaka and member of the Enterprise Institute, has long studied radical Islamist movements. In a recent interview with Fides in his office in the Gulshan district of the Bangladeshi capital, he recalls that in order to understand the growth of Salafism-jihadist and future challenges, we must look back: to the period immediately following the Country's independence, obtained in 1971 after a bloody war to free itself from the control of Pakistan.
